A new puppy i's blind and deaf and can't walk, and it only does two things: eat and sleep. It can lift its wobbly head and push itself forward to find mom, and then it just borrows its nose in until it arrives at a nipple. These pups seem to take turns, so not everyone has to have a nipple at the same time.
The mom licks their little tummies and bottoms to make them pee and poop (and if she didn't, they wouldn't!) and she eats everything up as she goes. I wondered how she keeps track of who has been licked and who hasn't, but she probably doesn't. She just licks constantly and all of them get done by chance. This goes on until 3 or 4 weeks of age, and then I'll have to start cleaning the pee and poop up myself. But I'll use a mop. Hahah.
The biggest chore I have now is keeping Maggie fed - she is ravenous!
