MaggieDog's big night

Well, the most accurate advice I got was from Shauna.
(1) She'll probably have about 9. You'd be surprised how many puppies can be in there.
(2) You probably won't have to do anything.

No. 1 - a big blonde boy, 11:05.
No. 2 - a little black boy, 12:13.
No. 3 - noisy blonde boy. 12:30.
No. 4 - a little green boy, 1:07. (now almost white)
No. 5 - a tiny black girl! 1:35.
No. 6 - a big brown boy, 2:14.
No. 7 - another little black girl! 2:46
No. 8 - a tiny blonde boy, 3:05.

And this is to the best of my recollection and scribbled notes.

The first one was a surprise because Maggie was pacing and panting so I didn't realize she was having contractions. She had it cleaned up and nursing so fast that I immediately stopped worrying. She knew exactly what to do!

After the second one, we told her to give us a bunch more. After the 6th one, we said, Stop already! After No.7, we moved her into the puppy box (she had them all under the table) because we thought she was finished. I don't know why we thought she was finished - maybe it was just wishful thinking. But she had one more to go, and that, thankfully, is that.


They all seem to be nursing and sleeping and nursing again without any trouble. Maggie just licks and licks and nuzzles with barely a moment to rest. She drank lots of chicken broth this morning, and let me drag her (almost literally) outside to go pee.

So we'll have a quiet restful day. Hoho. I wish I could record them - they sound like a bunch of kittens!
