"Are you sure you don't want to keep him?" is Erin's comment on the blog..
And the answer is "No, I'm not sure!" Or, more accurately, "I'm sure I do want to keep him."
In fact, I began fostering because Don and I agreed you can't have too many dogs. But whereas Don thinks this means you're not allowed to have too many dogs, I think it means there is no such thing as too many dogs.
In the beginning, we only had Iggy and we didn't need another dog and dogs were not allowed on the bed. In a year of fostering, we travelled from there to Iggy, Ginny, two foster puppies and Ginny's friend Ellie all on the bed at once. Also, it used to be that when I hinted at keeping one of the foster puppies, Don would say, "What are you talking about?" as though I had reported a giraffe in the kitchen. Now he just sighs.
I do want to keep Carmelo. But I know that once I adopt, I may have to stop fostering and that seems to hold me in check. Don says I will have to stop fostering if I adopt. But look how far we've come from the one dog rule ...

Ha! I've followed your blog since "Professor" and that's how we got into fostering too. When we started, we didn't have a dog, but that didn't last long. I convinced Mark to foster, then to adopt one dog.... maybe another?!! But for us, that would also be the end of fostering...enjoy the adventure:)
I just came across your blog as I am interested in adopting a dog from Little Mutts. You and your family are fabulous! We need more people like you in the world...how lucky that pooches looking for a second chance have you to transition them. Your love and committment shine through your postings!
