"From my position on the floor, I noticed this spare hand lying around doing nothing. So I crept my little furry self up beside it. This is the Hint-Hint-Hint Step. It's important to do this step quietly and slowly, making it look as though you have to work very, very hard to get up on the couch even if you can do it in a single bound. That way, everyone thinks you are cute and they don't say the "off!" word and spoil everything.
